I am VERY excited to share with you that my new book, Neither Life Nor Death, the third in the Drew Davies Railway Mystery Series, will be available for purchase from Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other on-line sources as of August 30, 2026. If you are able to do so, our independent bookstores can also order the book for you. I am a small independent publisher, and I know how important it is to support independent bookstores and businesses. The book will also be on the shelves of Village Books in Fairhaven, WA, and also at Refeather Your Nest in Mount Vernon, WA.
Once again, my talented sister Kathleen painted an amazing cover. We both wanted something more dramatic for this book, and I am so thrilled by her work. We used a picture I took of All Saint’s Church in the Oystermouth Parish in Mumbles, Wales for the setting. Important scenes in the new book take place at the church so it was a wonderful choice. One of my treasured memories when I was in Mumbles is walking among the large gravestones around the beautiful historical church. Many were as tall as me, tilted over and scarred by the passing of time, but still standing strong hundreds of years later.
Writing historical fiction brings the past to life and helps you look at the present from a different perspective. This particular season is the one in which all of us now live our lives. We will pass, as well as the present circumstances. History holds lessons for how we might live in this season – how we choose to engage with the rest of humanity. I believe we should always choose compassion sprinkled with hope.
In September, Kathy will be here visiting with our family. We so enjoy our time together, and after discussing the family, the world and all its foibles, we then spend much of our time just laughing our heads off. This is my favorite picture of us and completely captures the essence of our visits.

I do hope that you enjoy reading this third book in The Drew Davies Railway Mysteries series. If you do read the book, I would love to hear from you. And if you order it from Amazon, it would be greatly appreciated if you would write a short review as it helps others find the books they enjoy.
The Gardens
Our days here in the Pacific Northwest are hotter and drier than ever. The smoke from the fires here on the Pacific Coast made life difficult for so many as well as our neighbors in British Columbia. As our earth becomes more scorched, water – our most important resource, runs the risk of becoming threatened. Everything each of us can do to reduce consumption of resources will help preserve this world for the next generation and beyond.

Our gardens, though not as prolific as usual, have blessed us with onions, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, pumpkins, squash, corn, garlic, cucumbers and beans. We will freeze much of the corn, and I will again make and freeze marinara sauce from at least half of the tomato harvest.
